I met Shawn Michaels on January 16, 2004 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. I had been waiting for about 12 years to see this man, so you can imagine how excited I was. I made the trip from Southern Virginia just so I could get this autograph :)
Well I get to the Sovereign Center at 4:30 (it was about 0 degress outside) and I waited until they opened the doors at 5:00. They let us all inside and we gave them out tickets (he was making an appearance at a hockey game up there) and went inside to wait to see him. I got there kinda early, so luckily I didn't have to wait too long in line.
The people that were working at the Center told us that we were only allowed to get either a picture with him or an autograph, we couldn't do both unless we went back through the line again.. UGH! But I was determined... I thought to myself "You guys don't know who you're talking to" Hehe:)
Well, I finally get up to the table where a woman was taking the money for the autographs and I begged her to please let me have both, I told her that I would pay more money, and of course, that did the trick. When I got up to Shawn Michaels the first thing that I said was
"I have been waiting for 12 years to meet you" Shawn looked at me, stood up, looking down the line and said,
"Is the line THAT long?!" We both laughed and he signed my June 1996 issue of Raw Magazine (the one where he had won the title for the first time from Bret Hart)
I told him that I had liked him ever since he first came in the WWF, from when he was a bad guy to a good guy.... Everything. He said that he appreciated fans like me and he said that he was touched that someone would follow him for that long. He also said that I must have been a teeny girl back then and I said that yes, I had liked him ever since I was about 6 years old. We both smiled. Then I got to take my picture with him. I got behind the table and stood up, he put his arm around my waist (oh my god) and I put my arm around him and we both took the picture. I again said that I appreciated everything that he had everything done for fans like me and he said that he was happy to do so. He shook my hand and then that was it.
It was a great day, and I am very blessed that I got to have that experience. I have not had the chance to get a scanner yet to scan the pictures (since this just happened two days ago:)) but when I do I will be sure to put them up on this website so everyone can see.
He is a very nice person to meet and he talked to every fan... I hope that everyone who admires him like I do can get the same chance I had. :)
