Happy New Year everyone !
I hope everybody had a great holiday season. We here at the Hickenbottom household celebrated a season of first for our family. What a great time we had. This was our first Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years as a family and we are anxiously awaiting the big number 1 in a few days. Never before have I felt this way about the holidays. Sure I've always enjoyed them, but never have I become so overwhelmed with joy. It was just spectacular. I hope you will pardon me if I don't go into too many details as I want to keep them where I feel they belong...with me and my loved ones.
I will however share with you some of the lighter moments. First, I took off the entire holiday season. (Thanksgiving to Christmas anyway) I mean I didn't do anything. No work, no gym, nothing. Rebecca wanted to have X-mas over at our house this year and make dinner for my family. Which if I do say so myself, is no easy venture. I admire her guts. Well after Thanksgiving she started to bake...and I started to eat. You name it she made it.Chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake, chocolate pie, fudge the works. As fast as she made it me and Cam got into it. He mostly spread it around his face and the house though. I on the other hand devoured it. Needless to say I am a bit chunky as I write this. Today was my first day back in the gym. What the hell, you only live once. Anyway, Rebecca cooked a wonderful Christmas for the whole Hickenbottom clan. I think my Mom will hit her up every year after this as this is the first Christmas that I can remember when my Mom didn't have to do all the work.
I got all sorts of cool gifts too. Although Cameron got tons more than me. Man he gets everything now that he's the baby in the family. It's as if I have to be a grown up now...what a rip off. But seriously, I would like to thank those people who not only have given me gifts for my son at the autograph sessions but those of you who sent him gifts. It was very kind and Rebecca and I thank you very much.
I realize I am rambling a bit but I have not been on the ol' Internet for a long time and just decided to come up here and write this thing. Lets see what else. I did a lot of hunting and work, out at our ranch over the holidays and really that is about it. I have seen some of the messages concerning my return. I wish I had some info for you. I did meet with J.R. and things went very well I think. All I can say about that is we'll see. I do need to get back into shape though before I do anything. I think I can do it fairly quickly as I was doing very well before the holidays. I just decided I would have fun and eat like a son of a gun. I did see in some of your messages that folks have still been commenting about my return. I think by now you all know to take those individuals with a grain of salt. First of all they have never known me and are going on an idea of theirs about a reputation that is three years old. Three years is a long time kids. I'm quite certain most these people don't have any idea what it is like to be 100% satisfied with yourself professionally and only be concerned with being a good husband and father. And these "friends" of mine well... I think they want to be top guys, whoever they are. I've done it and have absolutely no desire to do it again. I for one don't want that kind of demand on my time. In the immortal words of Al Snow...Pin me,pay me. I got news for you, in the house I live in I will always be the Main F'ing Event.
Well I hope I have answered some of the questions you all have been wondering about as well as gotten you up to speed with what's new. I'm off now to prepare for a little boys first birthday. It is amazing. A year already. It has gone by so fast. I wish there was some way to slow the clock down. It won't be long and he'll be telling me how stupid my earrings and hair look.I can hear it now "just give me the damn keys old man."
See ya,
Shawn
