The buildup for this match is that Shawn was IC Champ but didn't defend it in 30 days so he was stripped of the title by Jack Tunney. A tournament was held where Razor Ramon reigned supreme and became the new Champ. Michaels came back with his title and said he was the real Champ. It was decided that at Wrestlemania,there'd be the first ever ladder match with the two champs. The first guy to climb the ladder and reach the two titles would be the Undisputed IC Champ.
The two men start brawling with each other and anytime one would try
something, the other one would escape or reverse it. Razor hits a nice
chokeslam on Shawn. Shawn retaliates with a neckbreaker. Shawn throws Razor outside the ring where he gets smashed with a clothesline by Diesel. The ref doesn't like the interference and sends Diesel to the locker room. Now the match is mano y mano. The two start pounding away at each other with the Bad Guy getting the upper hand on Shawn. He would expose the concrete outside the ring and he tried throwing Shawn onto it but was back body dropped on it. You can hear a very loud smack as Razors body smashed the floor and he holds his elbow in pain. Shawn gets the ladder but Razor comes back and takes it from him. Back in the ring, he gets a baseball slide, with the ladder crashing into his chest. Michaels delivers the ladder into his opponents chest, back, legs everywhere. Razor is ailing. Shawn does one of the most incredible things in wrestling history about now, one that no one can top. From just about the top of the ladder, Shawn hit an incredible splash onto Razor in the middle of the ring!Innovative and never before done in WWF. They both get up with Razor struggling but fighting back. The action spills out of the ring as Ramon sets the ladder up onto a ringpost and catapaults Shawn face first into it and then the ladder fell on top of Shawns body. With his opponent hurt outside, the Bad Guy started climbing in the ring but Shawn knocked him off with a double axe handle. The ladder falls and lands on the former Rocker. The two men start climbing the metal staircase on each side and struggle to the top before 3/4 up the ladder, Razor was able to Superplex Shawn off of it. They were able to get up again and Shawn was able to hit his finisher, Sweet Chin Music before hitting a devasting piledriver.Razors body popped back up into the air.Shawn set up Razor and then positioned the ladder near him. He climbed to the top again and dives forward with the ladder, crashing it into Razor Ramon. He sets up the ladder and starts climbing. Razor gets up and charges the ladder. It falls and Shawn lands open legged onto the ropes before getting his leg tangled in the top and middle rope. Razor put the ladder back up fast and starts to climb. Shawn frees his legs but his arm gets stuck.He frees himself again and dives at the ladder but it was too late. Razor Ramon had got both titles and was the new Intercontinental Champ.
