Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels stand in the middle of the ring as they are explained the rules.Bret as that title sitting on his shoulder.And they ring the bell.The two go in to some technical wrestling involving some intricate maneuvers,quick takedowns and reversals.Bret rolls Shawn into a headlock.He uses that for a while before HBK gets out.We're 7 minutes in now.Shawn scuffles a bit before locking in an armbar on Bret.Bret escapes.Shawn hits a flying head scissors that sends Bret through the ropes to the outside.Bret must regroup as HBK has taken the advantage.The Hitman goes back in only to have Shawn zero back in on his arm.Bret trips up Shawn and hits a headbutt to the groin.He hits a legdrop and a chinlock.Shawn wriggles out,spins around and locks Bret in a wristlock.Bret turns around and does a double leg takedown.He goes for a Sharpshooter early but can't get it on.He clotheslines HBK over the top rope.They exchange shots and Bret falls onto the timekeepers lap.HBK goes for some Sweet Chin Music but Bret gets out and the timekeeper absorbs the blow.Shawn gets himself stuck in the chinlock again.By the time he gets out,its 20 minutes in.HBK goes for the armbar and then flips him into a cross armbreaker.He lets go.He locks on a hammerlock but gets thrown chest first into the corner.He comes back with a knee to the gut and slams Bret shoulder first into the turnbuckle.He picks up Bret nd hits a shoulder breaker followed by a double ax handle to the shoulderHe puts on another hammerlock while hitting a back suplex landing him on that injured arm.Bret punches but Shawn takes down the Champ with a single arm DDT and goes from a standing to cross armbreaker.Shawn applies a armbar again but Bret gets out and catapaults Shawn head first into the top rope for 2.Shawn tries a spear but Bret ducks and hits an atomic drop followed by a big clothesline for 2.Bret runs out of the corner and hits a bulldog for 2.Bret goes up top and Shawn tries stopping him but gets knee'd in the face and accidently hits the ref.At this point,half the match has gone by.Shawn hits a scoop slam for 2 but bret gets right back up kicks Shawn and piledrives him for 2.Shawn runs under Bret and hits the hurricarana and a rib breaker for 2.Brets reeling.Shawn gets ready for Sweet Chin Music but when Shawn almost hits it,Bret ducks out the ring.Hbk dives through the second rope at Bret taking him down.Shawn picks up Bret for a body slam but gets it reversed for 2.Shawn recieves a 2 with a small package.Bret regroups and hits a fisherman's suplex for 2.Bret puts on a sleeper hold where he nearly gets a point but Shawn gets up.Shawn charges at Bret in the corner but gets back body dropped hard on the floor.Bret hits an elbow drop to Michaels back followed up by a backbreaker and dropping his leg across Shawns lower back.Bret charges HBK's back into the turnbuckles and hits a top rope back suplex for 2.Bret tries a sleeper hold but HBK escapes and hits a Sunset Flip for 2.The 2 men fight on the top rope but Shawn gets kicked off.He tosses Michaels into the turnbuckle and Michales does a Ric Flair and lands on Jose Lothario(his trainer) on the way down.They brawl on the floor and Bret hits a belly to belly suplex for 2.Shawn wriggles out of a vertical suplex with a School Boy for 2.Bret takes Hbk outside and hit a Suicide Dive.Bret suplex's HBK back into the ring and hits a German suplex for 2.Both men are fatigued right now as 50 minutes is over.Bret uses a top rope suplex and a half Boston Crab to his ferocious delight.He goes up top and tries an elbow but is kicked by Shawn.Shawn elbows Brets face and hits a backelbow and double ax for 2.Flying Elbow drop for 2.Powerbomb and moonsault get 2.Top rope hurricarana gets 2.Shawn gets tripped up off top and is locked in the Sharpshooter.Where did Bret pull that out from?He holds it on 'til the 60 minutes expire.What a match!The crowd is applauding such an excellent match.Gorilla Monsoon declares that the match must continue as it finished 0-0,there can not be a draw in a WWF Championship match.Bret had took his title and was going to leave since he thought he'd retain it on a draw but came back anyways.He was really pissed and took it out on Shawn.He punches Shawn's back and gets a backbreaker but Shawn hits Sweet Chin Music!He pops up again and hits the 2nd one for the 3!!Possibly the greatest match ever in WWF and America.Shawn celebrated with his new won title in front of the fans.That night,Sun Mar 31,1996 for Shawn Michaels,Destiny became reality and a boy became a man.
